Why Does El Brio Vanner Certify Its Horses?
El Brio Vanner seeks certification of its horses to provide its customers with the guarantee of breed purity. Certification of Gypsy Vanner horses was created not only to protect the integrity of the horse, but also to provide a sense of confidence among consumers. It protects against the unethical and unsatisfactory breeding, trading, and importing of Vanner horses. A certified El Brio Vanner horse is guaranteed to meet the standards of its specific breed; meaning that the horse is what the breed was envisioned to be. Certification also verifies that the horse is healthy, having passed an inspection for genetic faults and general health by a certified veterinarian.
As a breeder of certified Gypsy Vanner Horses we are dedicated to:
- Establishing the Vanner breed’s unique look in which the Gypsies intended them to be-- a small Shire with more feather and a sweeter head.
- Validating the genetics that create the Vanner look. In order to do this we must be knowledgeable of the horse’s heritage and be able to back this up with DNA proof--we are and we can.
- Maintaining the pride and prestige that the Gypsies had for their breed.
- Preserving the Vanner breed with values that are parallel to the Gypsies.
(To maintain the integrity of the breed we must not erode from established values).
