| About Gypsy Vanner Futurity |
The Great Lakes Futurity Program offers promotion to the Gypsy Vanner breed, preserving the integrity of these magical animals. So why should you consider buying a gypsy vanner horse eligible for the futurity program? First, all Gypsy Vanner Stallions and Mares that are nominated into the program must be registered Gypsy Vanner Horses. Secondly the program offers an opportunity for futurity awards and money each year in halter and performance classes. Your gypsy vanner will have this prestigious recognition! Currently, El Brio Vanner has two eligible Gold Cup Stallions, 3 eligible yearlings for sale, 3 embryo babies for sale that will be eligible for 2008 futurity, and we’ve already sold one 2007-futurity filly, Quintessa. Please read on for further details on the requirements of the futurity program as well as what awards are available to be received. Stallion Rules & Requirements |
Any Gypsy Vanner Stallion that is registered may be nominated into the futurity program with a one-time nomination fee of $500. After the nomination fee is paid the Stallion will then have the honor and title of Gold Cup Stallion. Stallions cannot be nominated prior to January 1st of their third birthday.
|
Mare Rules & Requirements |
Any registered Gypsy Vanner Mare bred to a nominated stallion in the Gold Cup program is eligible to be nominated herself. The Mare must be nominated with the appropriate form, and a nomination fee of $100 per mare must be submitted by December of the year the mare is bred. Nominations of mares will take place each year and there are no limitations to the number of mares that can be nominated each year; however, mares cannot be nominated prior to January 1st of their third birthday.
The foal that results from the nominated Stallion and Mare is eligible to be shown in the futurity halter and performance futurity division classes, regardless of the sale or transfer of ownership. The foal must be GVHS registered.
Only one foal per mare, per year can be futurity eligible. If multiple (ET) foals are born from the same mare, the first-born of the year of the nominated mare is automatically that year’s nominated foal.
